Bloated?

It’s one of the most common digestive issues: bloating of the abdomen. Some have just a bit of bloating where others look like they are a couple of months pregnant. Some people don’t feel anything of the bloating, and some feel a lot of pressure or pain in the stomach or feel like they are wearing tight jeans. Did you know that acupuncture can be effective for abdominal bloating?

A bloated stomach is often a sign that your digestion is not working properly. But it can also occur during pregnancy or in the days just before your period. Usually a bloated stomach is caused by wrong food or over eating. It can also happen if you have an intolerance or an allergy to a certain product and often stress is playing a role as well. Good thing is that with some small changes such as changing your diet, eating slowly and chewing well you can make a huge difference.

Bloating and TCM
According to Chinese medicine, bloating is often related to a disturbed energy of the Spleen, which is very important for digestion. The Spleen gets out of balance due to wrong food and wrong eating habits:
🥛too much dairy and sugar
⏰eating at irregular times
🤯 eating at stressed moments
🍹Too much raw food and cold drinks
If the Spleen energy is out of balance, there are often complaints such as fatigue, heaviness in the body, craving for sweets and distressed bowel movements.

Acupuncture can be effective for abdominal bloating. By needling certain points we try to break up the stagnation in your spleen and restore the energy. Do you want to know more? Do not hesitate and contact us or book an appointment.
